Junior High students were recently given the opportunity to win tickets to a Penguin game.  Students were asked to write positive messages of kindness for others as entry into to the competition.  From there, nine students were drawn at random to win the Penguins tickets.  We hope you all enjoyed the game!

Let's go Pens!!!

Words of

Kindness

Junior High students took time out of their day to write words of kindness, positivity, and encouragement to their fellow peers.  With the National Bullying Prevention Month in mind, our students focused on the well being of others and learned about the power of compassion in this very important activity.

Riverview students participated at the annual Presidents Bowl competition at Seneca Valley on October 21st.   At the middle level, Isaac Versaw had the 3rd highest score among Riverview students, Micah Ivy had the second highest with 36 points, and Carter Loughren led the way with 66 points which earned Carter 10th place overall, and qualified him for the national tournament in Atlanta Georgia in April.

Congratulations, Madeline Warren

7th Grade student Madeline Warren is going to have her work entitled, "The Shifting Emotions of Her Highness Princess Stella" published in an anthology.  Check out the full story here.  We are so proud of you and your work, Madeline!

Earning a Recognizing Raiders shirt as an 8th grade student is a great honor, as it means the student has been recognized at least twice in their junior high career.  This year's shirts were designed with the help of the 8th grade homeroom representatives.

THE DEEP BLUE SEA

Junior High homerooms will each represent an underwater creature as teams battle beneath the waves.  Will this year's Jr. High Olympics victor be a hammerhead shark?  An angler fish?  Or maybe a giant barrel sponge!  We will just have to see how homerooms work together throughout the year to overcome obstacles, show school pride, and earn points as they try to be the Jr. High champions of 2020.

and this year's theme is....

Creative Convention

On October 30th, Riverview 7th graders attended the Creative Convention event at North Allegheny along with Dr. McNally.  Both Riverview teams completed projects that were among the best in the competition.

Collaboration

Working together with others is not always easy.  It takes patience, active listening, and strong communication in order to collaborate with your peers.  It is a skill that we highly promote and reinforce at the Junior High as we recognize how important it is for students in their future success.  Be patience, optimistic, and devoted as you work with others, and you may find yourself being recognized at our next Town Hall Meeting!

Congratulations, Lola Abraham!

This summer, Lola Abraham made it to the National Cup in Colorado with the Riverview Academy Soccer Team.  Click HERE for more information.

8th Grade Homeroom Representatives
